Don't Panic — Your Data Is Likely Safe
TradingPlan stores all data in iCloud, not locally on your device. Deleting or reinstalling the app does not delete your data. It's still in iCloud, attached to your Apple ID, and will sync back when you sign in.
The Most Common Reasons Data Appears Missing
1. You're signed in with a different Apple ID
This is the most common cause. Each Apple ID has a completely separate plan. If you've recently signed in with a different ID — or if you chose "Hide My Email" with a different relay address — you'll see a different (empty or old) plan.
How to check:
- Go to Profile in TradingPlan
- Check which account name is shown at the top
- Cross-reference with Settings → Apple ID on your device
- If they don't match, sign out and sign in with the correct Apple ID
2. Sync hasn't completed yet
After signing in on a reinstalled app or new device, data takes a few minutes to sync from iCloud. If you open the app immediately, it may look empty.
What to do: Wait 5–10 minutes, then pull-to-refresh on the Dashboard or close and reopen the app.
3. iCloud is disabled for TradingPlan
If iCloud sync was turned off (intentionally or by accident), data won't be present on this device.
How to fix:
- Open Settings → [your name] → iCloud
- Find TradingPlan and toggle it on
- Wait a few minutes for data to sync
4. iCloud storage is full
If your iCloud storage is full, no new data can sync.
How to check: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. If it's at capacity, free up space first.
After Updating the App
App updates never delete your data. If data appears to be missing after an update:
- Check your internet connection
- Pull-to-refresh on the Dashboard
- Close and reopen the app
- Wait a few minutes and check again
Data is preserved across all updates.
After Getting a New Device
- Install TradingPlan
- Sign in with the same Apple ID
- Allow a few minutes for data to sync
Everything — strategies, routines, philosophy, risk rules, notes — will return automatically.
What If the Data Really Is Gone?
If you've tried all the above and confirmed you're using the correct Apple ID but data is still missing, contact support with:
- Your Apple ID email (or first name used in the app)
- Approximate date the data was last visible
- A description of what's missing
Contact us at Profile → Help & Feedback. In genuinely rare cases of iCloud sync failure, we may be able to assist in identifying whether data was lost at the iCloud level.
