What is a Strategy Flow?
A strategy flow is a guided, step-by-step checklist that walks you through every rule in your strategy before you enter a trade. Instead of trying to remember your rules from memory, you open the flow and confirm each condition one by one.
It's the moment where your plan becomes active. You're not just following gut instinct — you're checking your rules and only entering a trade when your own criteria are met.
Why Run a Flow Before Every Trade?
The most common reason traders break their own rules isn't that they've forgotten them — it's that they talk themselves into trades that don't quite qualify. The strategy flow removes that wiggle room. When you have to tick every box, it becomes much harder to rationalise a sub-standard entry.
Over time, running the flow also helps you see why trades win or lose. If you can look back and confirm "every box was ticked" on a losing trade, you learn that your setup was valid — execution was sound — and the market simply moved against you. That's a completely different lesson than "I bent my rules and lost."
How to Start a Flow
- Go to the Strategies tab (or tap the Strategies widget on your Dashboard)
- Tap on the strategy you want to trade
- Tap Start Flow (or the play button)
The flow begins. It steps through each section of your strategy in order — Analysis, Directional Bias, Entry, Stop-Loss, Target, Active Management — displaying your rules one section at a time.
You can also start a flow directly from the Dashboard via the Strategy Schedule widget if you've configured a schedule for the strategy.
Working Through the Flow
Each section of the flow shows you the rules for that section. For each rule, you confirm whether the condition is met.
- Met — tick it off and move on
- Not met — the flow surfaces this clearly
There is no auto-pass. Each item requires your active confirmation. The flow takes as long as it needs to — if you're being honest, you're checking the chart while you work through it.
What Happens at the End?
Once you've worked through all sections, the flow summarises your checklist. If all conditions were met, you have your go-ahead — you can take the trade according to your plan.
If conditions weren't all met, the flow makes that visible. What you do with that information is up to you — but the whole point of the plan is that you respect that answer.
A completed flow is recorded in your Flow History (accessible from the Trade Plan tab), so you can review past sessions.
Resetting a Flow
If you want to reset and start the flow fresh mid-way through (for example, you changed your mind about the trade direction), tap the reset option within the flow. This clears your current progress and starts from the beginning.
Flow History
Every time you complete a strategy flow, a record is saved. You can review your flow history to see:
- When you ran each flow
- How many conditions were met
- Patterns in how often you confirm vs. fail a given section
This is useful for identifying which part of your criteria you most frequently struggle with — and whether your rules need refinement.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Flow
- Have your chart open while running the flow. Don't do it from memory
- Be honest. A ticked box you didn't actually confirm defeats the purpose
- Run it every time, even on setups that feel obvious. Especially on those — overconfidence is where discipline breaks down
- Use it as a filter, not a formality. If the flow tells you the trade doesn't qualify, trust it
