The Most Common Cause
Sign In With Apple requires an active Apple ID and internet connection. Most sign-in failures come down to one of these:
- No or unstable internet connection
- Apple ID requires attention (password expired, two-factor verification issue)
- The Apple authentication service is temporarily unavailable
Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection
Sign In With Apple contacts Apple's servers. Make sure you have an active, working connection:
- Try loading a website in Safari
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if one isn't working
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on again
Step 2: Check Your Apple ID Is Working
- Open the Settings app on your device
- Tap your name at the top
- If you see any prompts about your Apple ID needing attention (password reset, verification needed), follow those prompts first
- Try signing in to TradingPlan again once your Apple ID is in good standing
Step 3: Check Apple's Status
Occasionally Sign In With Apple experiences brief service disruptions. Check Apple's System Status page and look for any issues with "Apple ID" or "Sign In With Apple."
If there's a known issue, it will resolve on Apple's side. Try again in a few minutes.
Step 4: Restart Your Device
A fresh restart clears any temporary authentication state issues:
- Power off your device completely
- Power it back on
- Try signing in to TradingPlan
Step 5: Check TradingPlan Has Permission
On some devices, if TradingPlan was denied system permissions during a previous install, Sign In With Apple may be blocked:
iPhone / iPad
- Open Settings
- Scroll down to TradingPlan in the app list
- Check all permissions are enabled
Mac
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Check relevant permissions for TradingPlan
"I Used to Be Signed In, But Now I'm Not"
If the app shows the sign-in screen unexpectedly:
- You may have been signed out automatically due to an Apple ID security event (e.g. password change)
- Simply sign in again — your data is safe in iCloud and will sync back
"I've Signed In But My Data Is Gone"
Check that you're signing in with the same Apple ID you used originally. If you used a different one (or chose to hide your email with a different relay address), you'll see a new, empty plan. Sign out and sign in again with the correct Apple ID.
If you're certain you're using the same Apple ID but data is still missing, see Data Missing After Update or Reinstall.
